We’re Falling Hard For Fall

Each day as the Fall collection continues to arrive at CVHQ, we can’t help but get more and more excited about the season – it just looks that good! We wanted to show you some of our favorite styles, plus lookbook shots that’ll have you coveting these cuties. Shop them now on ClareV.com and look for an amazing assortment at both CV stores, too.  -Alexis

This shot of Mat with her Double Dots Foldover Clutch gets us every time. The color combo feels just right for Fall and we love the way it’s styled against those rich suede tones.

Lovely Louisa models the Buff Amalfi Silver Dots Flat Clutch, which is the perfect crossover shade to take us into Fall. We couldn’t be more thrilled that Kelly Wearstler chose this beauty as her go-to bag in this month’s issue of InStyle!

Clare’s been carrying her Grey Suede Sandrine all over the world over the past few months – and now you can get yours, too. We love this bag for its amazingly roomy size and sleek suede exterior. How good is this grey?

We grabbed this shot from our store of the perfect CV lineup! The Oui shirt is back in stock – and looking real good in a new 3/4 sleeve version.  And the fanny is back in a big way, especially in this Navy Nubuck Pink Spots version.

Who doesn’t need a new tote? The Matilde Tote gets a beautiful update for Fall in navy quilted leather. You’ll want to wear this everywhere. And we think the quilted Bum Bag looks pretty cute on Chloe, too.

The pièce de resistance, the Double Dots, looks just as good in British Tan as it does in Navy.  Lucky Editor in Chief Eva Chen loves hers too!

And since we know you love your CV stripes, we couldn’t help but share this shot from Kate of The Fancy Pants Report and her Black and White Stripe Simple Tote. Just another favorite for Fall. This, and so much more, is all available now!

CV Tees Are Back!

We have been so overwhelmed by the excitement around our CV tees. The original Bonjour and Tout Va Bien styles sold out quickly but we’ve just brought back a few of our beloved designs to the site! These easy, perfect Summer styles have been popular among the ladies at CVHQ and we love seeing fans in NY, LA, and even Japan, wearing their CV tees. -Alexis

Since she began interning with us earlier this Summer, Clare’s charming and lovely niece Sophie has become our resident model. Here she is in a cream Oui raglan tee with 3/4 sleeves and the softest feel and fit.

This scout red style has become an instant bestseller and the perfect complement to your favorite denim. Did we mention how soft it is?

And this navy is the perfect neutral to round out your collection – and we’ve got our eye on the cool, surf blue hue, too. Buy the CV T-Shirts here.

Get It Now: Clare V. x Paper Chase Press

We are excited to announce the launch of a special new project we did with our friends at Paper Chase Press in Los Angeles. They asked Clare to collaborate with them on their new project, an exclusive series of customizable stationery collections called Paper Cuts. -Alexis

Lizzie, our graphic designer, created these playful postcards that all have the signature CV hand-drawn touch and classic Francophile style. She designed them to include some of our favorite French phrases including Merci, Bonjour, A Bientot and also, Keep in Touch.

Clare V_editorial_4

Clare’s custom cards say her name on the back, but Paper Chase allows you to personalize these designs with your own name and address to make them entirely your own. This is such a great shot of the spread on Lizzie’s desk.

Clare V_editorial_5

We happen to think they make the perfect topper to a CV purchase.  And did we mention the great company we’re in? There are also other amazing cards from their work with one of our favorite sites, Jean Stories, and photographer Jay Carroll.

Inside the Nolita Shop

Every week we give you an inside look at our LA and NY shops on Instagram. But what you don’t always see are the amazing CV shopgirls who run the show. We headed cross country this week to check in with Danielle, store manager of the Nolita shop on Elizabeth Street. Read on to find out more about this stylish shopgirl. -Alexis

Name and Title: Danielle Felmlee / Nolita Store Manager (pictured above with the Sac Bretelle)

How would you describe your Summer style?
Anything goes in Summer, but I like to feel weightless. This summer I’m loving light color palettes like dusty-rose or bleached blues and naturals, anchored with interesting brass jewelry pieces. Annie Costello Brown’s jewelry (sold in both LA and NY stores) is perfect for this.
What’s your go-to Summer look?
Hmm…a simple throw-on dress? Stripes? Sandals? Today I have bubble shorts on and an oversized linen boatneck knit with K.Jacques sandals. It’s really all about the Sac Bretelle, though. I’m loving Clare’s new British Tan leathers. They are such a gorgeous tone of rust-brown.
What’s your favorite part about working at the store?
I enjoy sharing the fun that customers have…helping them find a fun and useful bag or a gift for someone.
What song do you love to have playing at the store?
I am stuck on soulful oldies like Doris Troy right now. When Casey and I work together, we take a duet on Nancy Sinatra’s “Sugar Town” at least once a day. We spice it up with Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire on occasion, and they will sometimes tolerate my neo-disco obsession.
Do you see a difference between the way LA and NY girls wear CV?
Other than NY’ers may lean more towards black or neutrals slightly more often, I’m finding that Clare V. is universally the destination for something of high quality that is fun, different, and without overt branding.
Any big summer plans?
I aim to enjoy the simple things this Summer including my container garden, all things slow-food related, my Boston Terrier, and bike. I usually manage at least one van-camping trip, a few NY-style beach days, and take some sort of personal-interest class. This summer it’s Spanish.
Which CV bag will you be wearing all summer?
I already take one of three out the door with me each day, which is my light-weight and minimal Sac Bretelle in British Tan, my handy and roomy Kenya Bag for the beach or farmer’s market shopping, or my Tropezienne for toting around my computer and paperwork!

Inside the Silverlake Shop

Every week we give you an inside look at our LA and NY shops on Instagram. But what you don’t always see are the amazing CV shopgirls who run the show. We took a trip down Sunset Blvd. to visit the Clare V. flagship in Silverlake and talk a little shop with Dagne. Read on to find out more about this stylish shopgirl. -Alexis

Name and Title: Dagne – Silverlake Flagship Store Manager (pictured here with the Julie)

How would you describe your Summer style?
Easy, light, and neutral. I love white in particular, from a light flowy dress to relaxed shorts and an oversized top.

What’s your go-to Summer look?
Jogger pants and a slouchy tank top. It’s put together but not fussy and can easily transition from day to night with heels and jewelry.

What’s your favorite part about working at the store?
Each day is different and I’m lucky to have such a great team!  I really enjoy building relationships with existing customers and meeting new ones.  We have a lot of people come in from out of town and make us a destination in their vacation plans. I love to see how people share the excitement for the line.

What song do you love to have playing at the store?
I always love when the song “Witch” by the Bird and the Bee comes on, it has a great melody to it.

Any big summer plans?
My little brother is getting married later this month so I’m going up to Seattle (where his fiancé is from) for the wedding.  Afterwards we’re heading to Vancouver. I’m really looking forward to spending time with my family and being around all of the beautiful Pacific Northwest scenery.

Which CV bag will you be wearing all summer?
The Navy Tropezienne and the Kenya once it’s back in stock!

Travel Diary: Dispatch From Detroit

photo 1

I had the good fortune of traveling to Detroit last week to celebrate “Detroit – Bruce Weber,” the new show at DIA (The Detroit Institute of Arts Museum) by the great fashion photographer. I was so excited to be there and see so many amazingly talented faces (like Patti Smith!!!) come to celebrate the icon and his beautiful work. Also, in a feat of perfect travel timing, the next day was the opening of Willys Detroit, which is a very cool new store that should not be missed if you’re in the area. Read on to see some of the best photos from my quick, 2-day trip.

photo 2Thanks to my good friend Crystal, who has the low down on at least a few of the coolest things to do and places to stay and eat in every town around the world, I stayed at the fantastically cute and cozy Honor & Folly.

photo 5

Down to every last detail, this place was the most charming. I couldn’t stop taking pictures. I can’t recommend it enough. Hello, this blanket!! I wanted it sooo badly. But nope, sadly it was not available to buy.

photo 5-2Honor & Folly is located in Corktown, above not only one of the most famous BBQ joints in Detroit, Slows, but also above one of the best cafes in Motor City, Astro Coffee. This was my breakfast and it was as delicious as it looks.

photo 4

It was a beautiful evening for the Weber affair at the gorgeous Beaux-Arts style Detroit Institute of Arts.

photo 2Walking into the atrium behind Anna Wintour (on the left!!).
photo 5

Patti Smith performed some of her greatest hits (People have the Power! Here Comes the Night!!) with her son and daughter in the sun-filled atrium surrounded by massive Diego Rivera murals, it was very touching.

photo 1During her performance I had to put my clutch down to clap (and wipe my teary eyes) and I loved how our LACMA clutch looked on my beat up jean jacket with a touch of my lacy pink Isabel Marant dress showing.
photo 1-2Of course, I loved Weber’s photos of Smith that were on display.

photo 2

This little cutie was a special guest at the event as she features prominently in Weber’s Detroit exhibit.

photo 4

photo 3This Weber pic seems to epitomize a lot of the Detroit that I saw – loved all the hand-painted business signs.

photo 5Of course, I loved his portraits of Kate Moss in Detroit.
photo 1Speaking of supermodels, Carolyn Murphy was also a featured guest at the event as she has just been working with Weber there for the new Shinola ad campaign. I met her, she was lovely, and I asked to take her picture with a gentleman known as Mr. Detroit.
photo 5

The after-party was decidedly less glam, but just as fun: a chili dog fest at American Coney Island.
photo 1

The luminous Murphy sat with Daniel Caudill, creative director at Shinola.

photo 3I had to take a clandestine photo of the iconic Grace Coddington of Vogue chatting with Bruce at the hot dog restaurant. I’m a nerd to be sure.

photo 2The next day, I was introduced to Willys!photo 1

I love the CV section – so nice how they merchandised it with beloved CV store staples like the pompoms and books, including La Beaute Est Dans La Rue.

Winding Down Wedding Week

In honor of Wedding Week last week on Racked.com (don’t miss Clare’s post!), we thought we’d do the same on the CV blog. We’ve reminisced with some of our favorite ladies about their magical day and asked them to share with us what made it so special. Plus, don’t miss the chance to shop CV now for the perfect gifts for the bride, groom and entire wedding party! -Alexis

Simone LeBlanc Wedding_1

Our friend Simone LeBlanc is our go-to for chic gifting, delivering bespoke treasures with an artful touch. She shared these exquisite photos of her wedding last year – and special details about her big day.

Simone LeBlanc_Wedding

Q: What did you wear on your wedding day?
A: Monique L’Huillier gown and headpiece, Grace Lee grey diamond bracelet. My dress was the first dress I noticed – I pulled it right of the rack and knew it was the one for me.

Q: What was your favorite memory of the day?
A: As cliché as it may sound – the entire day was bliss. However, my husband Ross’ vows really stole the show. There was not a dry eye in the house and I’ve already asked him to read them to me again for our 1st anniversary in July!
